Garden Tools: A copper watering can

English, 19th century

with associated rose

64cm long, together with two other brass watering cans, French or Dutch, 19th century and a rare small copper watering can stamped VR.

This last watering can stamped VR is illustrated in Alistair Morris’s book Antiques from the Garden, published in 1996 page 91 in which he states that this can was probably made by Haws and the Royal cypher suggested that it was probably intended for use in the Royal or official residence.

This lot and lots 258 to 261 are from the collection of Alistair Morris, well known authority on watering cans and author of Antiques from the Garden published in 1996 by the Antiques Collectors club.
